These Lapsang Souchong Teabags, contain the same tea as our loose leaf Lapsang Souchong. Originally this smoking method was a way of preserving this tea on the long voyage form Fujian, China to Europe. Grown in the thickly dense pine forests, high up in the Wuyi Mountains, this distinguishable smoky tea is testament to centuries-old craftmanship. Â
Smoking Lapsang Souchong
Unlike other teas which are left to dry naturally, Lapsang Souchong is smoked over pine wood fires. This method of preserving the tea is what gives it is characteristic smokey flavour. These Lapsang Teabags capture all the internsity of the loose leaf version but in a contvenient teabag form.
Brewing Lapsang Souchong Teabags
The strength and smokey aroma transports you to a beach campfire thanks to pinewood smoking of this tea that can work well black or with milk. Our Lapsang is made from a base of Keemun and Formosa Oolong. This gives a rich earthiness to compliment its smokey aroma. When brewing, the liquor should not be as potent as its fragrance. For our Lapsang Teabags we recommend brewing for 2-3 minutes with water just off the boil. Take a look at our other teabags below or try our Russian Caravan for a lighter smoked tea.
