Diner Mug Ivory / Classic / Mug

At last our much loved Classic American Diner style mug made of thick, natural coloured ceramic, are back in stock. Keeps heat well for cuddling the Atkinson’s brand.

The original design of this mug dates back to World War II when the U.S. Navy sent out a request to U.S. companies to make a durable mug that could literally weather the storm. The first mug was made by a company called Victor, an electrical insulator business. The first model didn't feature a handle which could break off when dropped and had a thick insulated wall. Throughout the 50s and 60s it was adopted by American diners throughout the country for it's durability and is now synonymous American coffee culture.

These have been our mugs of choice in our cafe The Hall for years thanks to their chunky, hardwearing build and enduring style!
