Course Information

Your group ideally needs to consist of 8-12 people; the cost is £20 per head and usually run from 6pm - 8pm. Booking and payment in advance is required to secure a course (card payments are preferable). Please phone Mandy on 01524 65470. The course will usually begin in the shop, progressing through the roastery to our facilities above the shop which provide an inviting and informative area in which to learn more about both tea and coffee. We aim to cover all aspects of your favourite beverages from leaf or bean to cup.

Courses are designed to run according to different levels of experience from the interested amateur to full Barista training skills for professionals and can be tailored to suit your group. Courses currently available are detailed below but if we can modify these to suit your requirements we will be very happy to do so:-

Tea & Coffee Tasting - With A Historical Theme!

As part of our celebrations surrounding our 170th anniversary, follow us on a fascinating guided tour in the time machine that is Atkinsons. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of a bygone era that is still very much alive here on China Street making this establishment such a unique institution. Be prepared for one or two surprises and perhaps the odd celebratory 'tipple'! The evening 'may' include: Irish Coffee Welcome; Demonstration Roasting; Tea & Coffee making helpful hints; some historical secrets and inclings into the bygone days of tea and coffee.

Sniff, Slurp & Spit - Further Adventures in the Art of Coffee Tasting.

Enjoy a lively and informative evening adding new dimensions to your coffee appreciation and enjoyment. Using the unique resources at our disposal, such as the 70+ varieties of green bean, the vintage roasting equipment and the more state-of-the-art facilities upstairs in the Academy, we aim to offer a great opportunity to learn more about the art of Aroma Perception in Coffee. The evening 'may' include: Irish Coffee Welcome;Demonstration Roasting; Le-Nez-du-Cafe Aroma Guessing Game; Bean Variety Characteristics and some helpful coffee making tips.
